Sheep Incognito Blog

Off We Goooo! The sheep have finally found a voice - a smorgasblog of mutton so-to-speak. So come along for a rather bumpy, slightly whacky and always (well, hopefully) entertaining ride through the realm of sheep. Of course, blogs are the new cafe-connections of the net - drop me a line, share your thoughts, or just be a silent observer. Don't spill the coffee on the sheep though, they shrink ...

Someone stole the beach!

Posted by Conni Togel in weirdweathervacationsouth carolinascpoliticslivinglifelandscapecommentarychangebeach

Normally I try to avoid reading too much in the way of current event hype, but this story about the stolen beach in Jamaica was just too funny to pass by.

Why (well, other than the usual obvious "for money" answer) would someone drive a truck to one beach on an island, and cart it away - especially to another spot on that same island. And how did they accomplish this, without being noticed?

On the other hand - Lake Hartwell, which is right next door to our house has a small state park that has a few little "beaches" - well, had, anyway...only in our case, they not only took the beach, but the water from the lake as well...but that's a different story entirely... anywho: the sand that created our "beach" was a nice, light yellow/white about two years ago. At the moment it more closely resembles the local red, sticky, slippery Anderson, SC clay - perhaps there were no trucks involved, but I do declare, they've taken the water with them as well.

The water levels are down to where the pole that measures the water height in 11 feet height is now high and dry - in fact, many of the lake's islands are now just another piece of land.

The only upside for the people that have bought the outrageously expensive properties along the lake from the corps of engineers: they now have more land, and get to spend less money on gas for their boats (seeing as those boats are now sort of stuck in the muck).

Perhaps there is someone somewhere between here and Jamaica that has determined that reddish muddy lake water from Anderson, SC would go really well with their pristine Jamaican white sand - they probably wanted to have a beach up there in Quebéc somewhere....
