Still lifes are supposed to show off the abilities of the artist – I think. Or perhaps they are the ruler against which artistic talent is measured. Or maybe they are just where artists try out spatial and color relationships.
No matter, the sheep doesn’t care (and neither do I, quite honestly). This was one of those “must paint a still life to see if I can” type paintings that started to bore me to tears after a short while. Fortunately for me, the sheep decided to step up to the plate and take care of the issue for me. Ah, much better now.
