The Odd Couple PRINT

After being married for almost twenty years, I’ve come to the conclusion that pretty much every married couple is just that – an odd couple. We mistakenly are taught that when we get married, we automatically adapt and become a new entity of “the Joneses” or “the Smiths” when in fact we just become a conglomeration of personal preferences, habits and expectations we’ve always had, and which define who we are as individuals.
You keep your wool; I’ll keep my feathers; and we’ll just agree to sit up on that droopy wire together. Later we’ll go for some dandelions in the meadow for dessert.
The hard part in marriage is getting up and down that darn pole without winding up with splinters in the hindquarters and sitting in the meadow without getting run over by a lawn mower.
