Cows having weapons of mass destruction is indeed Baaad News (never mind that is all fabricated news in the first place). But it fits right in with the name of the station: Pox News.
I was always highly entertained by the “Terror Level Alert System” that was implemented in 2002. It reminded me a lot of the fire danger signs at our national parks – except those actually have more merit and hopefully prevent forest fires to a certain degree. A terror level gauge seemed ridiculous to me from the start. It was a source of constant amusement to watch the media push every panic button in the book, without any kind of purpose to it other than to scare people into inertia.
By now the TV stations have pretty much eliminated their terror alert level gauges (guess their purpose has been achieved) and replaced them with suggestive questions like, “Do cows have WMD?” and “How will YOU deal with the corn shortage?” and “Do you know where your lambs are?”
The sheep have lost all interest in participating in the media market for good, leaving the news anchors and their posse to scare themselves for a while. They’ve moved on to bouncing in the fields, eating till they’ve had enough, sleeping in the shade, watching the butterflies and listening to the birds. I think I’m joining the sheep now.
