Chicken DanceOil on Canvas, 16” x 12” One of the downsides of having a background that includes living in Germany for 23 years is encountering many well meaning Americans here, who think the “Chicken Dance” is Germany’s favorite musical piece. Oh, how very wrong they are. The Chicken Dance is actually a tune played at beer festivals and carnival time, when people have had more than their share (and often that of their table neighbor’s share, too) of alcohol and can’t really distinguish good music from bad. Germans have a problem with knowing good music from bad at the best of times anyway – being drunk does not help this purpose. And no, they don’t usually do the little squatty thing and the duck-bill impersonation with both hands at the same time either. Don’t ask me where that comes from. All I know is that the sheep can hold it down with the best of you Americans – so bring on the So You Think You Can Dance talent scouts. Availability
