Lazy Sunday Afternoona.... PDF Print E-mail

Another day, that I'm not in the studio (those are quite frequent at the moment - lots of factors of everyday life playing into it). But, I did get to take some quick snapshots of my inspirations running around in the meadow out there - today the dog wanted to take the sheeps' place out front, so they were in his spot in the back munching his grass, and getting his attention. Didn't take him longer than 30 seconds to figure it out, so he came running back there to chase them off. Stupid, but very huggable doggy. Well, and just a big ole oaf, really...

He'd make a really good sheep - he's got all the brains for it, too.

So this scene disappeared quite rapidly, once the dog rounded the corner - well, it was inspiring while it lasted.

In the meantime, until I have more painted material to share, here is a sketch from my sketchbook - yes, very rough around the edges, not very detailed, and a fuzzy iphone photo to boot...use your imagination to make it look right :o)

I think the next painting I start might be the Happy Dance one - i like the way his body shape turned out. Slightly nerdy and ridiculous - just like sheep are when they are happy.

And - some totally different inspiration: some flowers I received from some good friends that visited us last week. The sun was coming in through the kitchen window, lighting up the flowers - those are actually sunrays streaming through them... If you haven't noticed yet, I have this thing for dramatic light in my landscapes. It makes the colors more vibrant and gives everything a touch of gold framing.
